FRIENDSHIPS AND CONNECTIONS FORMED AT DPS DUBAI

I joined DPS Dubai in Grade 2, stepping into a school where I didn’t know anyone. Nervous and excited, I walked into a classroom filled with 30 unfamiliar faces. Initially, I kept to myself, being quite shy at that age. However, I soon understood that making friendships and connections is a crucial part of the school experience, and growing alongside others is essential. As an 18 year old who graduated a few months ago from DPS Dubai, I certainly believe my friends have played a huge role in my school life, both academically as well as with respect to extra-curricular activities.

Academically, my friends served as sources of motivation and inspiration. Seeing my peers excel in their studies encouraged me to strive for similar achievements. We often set academic goals together and supported each other in reaching them. Many of my friends have been my classmates since primary school, which gave rise to a healthy competition among us.

Friendships also played a significant role in my participation in extracurricular activities. A few of us were a part of the school cricket team, and actively took part in tournaments. Being involved in sports with friends created a sense of camaraderie and belonging. These shared experiences not only strengthened our bonds but also enriched my school life by exposing me to new interests and opportunities.

Having a strong network of friends at school gave me a sense of belonging and made the school environment feel more welcoming. Knowing that I had friends to rely on made attending school something to look forward to rather than a chore. The sense of community fostered by my friendships made me more engaged and invested in school life. I was more likely to participate in school events, volunteer for activities, and take on leadership roles because I felt connected to the school community.

Overall, my school life would have been incomplete without the friendships I have made along the way. The experiences we have shared in the past 10 years have shaped my life and helped me become a better version of myself.
