RAHHAL

RAHHAL (meaning traveler in Arabic) is an innovative programmme of KHDA which is a part of 10X, a Dubai Future Foundation initiative.

The message of RAHHAL is simple: the world is a classroom, and all learning counts.

At Delhi Private School Dubai, the RAHHAL programme is called POLE (Programme for Outliers’ Learning and Empowerment).

This programme is a reflection of our Vision, “All students are facilitated to be the best versions of themselves”.

The Scope of this programme at DPS Dubai is to support students who require personalised pathways to learning.

It is for students who wish for accommodations for the following reasons:

Absence to participate in tournaments.

Exemption from school for skill development.

Accommodation for students with SEND to pursue a vocational course/alternative curriculum.

The POLE programme is required because the CBSE curriculum is content-heavy, with challenging examinations and class attendance requirements.  This makes it difficult for students to devote the necessary time for the rigorous coaching needed to fulfil their aspirations and participation at prestigious competitions.  SEND students are often unable to cope with the rigour of the syllabus, even after exemptions have been provided.

Through this initiative each student is treated differently according to his/her needs for which the school accommodates and extends extensive support.  This may be by the way of making up for missed lessons or migration of attendance.

Stringent quality assurance measures to assess the requirement of the student applying for this programme include the following:

Application from Parent

Academic Assessment by Phase Head

Assessment by School Counsellor

Assessment of Talent by Specific HOD

Recommendations by External Recognised Entities/Coaches

Assessment by Pastoral Care Head

Approval by Principal

Permission by KHDA

The student safeguarding measures include the following:

Class teacher’s feedback: Weekly, to ensure the student’s wellbeing.

Anecdotal Records: Twice a month by subject teachers, to check the interaction with peers and progress in lessons.

Pastoral Care: Counsellors will fortnightly set up appointments with the student to ensure social and emotional wellbeing.

A holistic approach is used to measure the student’s progress and attainment.  The 360 degree monitoring includes:

Attainment and progress to measure academic performance: The school closely monitors the scholastic target set by the student (PACT) to ensure attainment at the expected level. Term Report Cards, Assignments, notebooks, portfolios are scrutinized to ensure progress.

Feedback from class teachers, phase leaders and coordinators ensures that terms and conditions as mentioned in the agreement are followed.

Frequent, constructive and personal communication with the student and parent to discuss concerns and consult on strategies.

Monitoring the performance in competitions and record of accolades gives an insight into student’s success and progress.

Progress of Talent: Feedback from coach and trainer, anecdotal records of progress in training, schedule of training and attendance, accolades and records wherever applicable.

Attendance: Evidence of regularity in coaching/institute as well as invitations to participate at tournaments or camps.

Parents expectations: Monthly feedback of satisfaction and progress of their child- both academically and aspirational- through the flexibility offered by the POLE programme.

Students wellbeing: Feedback from Teachers, coaches, counsellors, parents and student.

The Head of Pastoral Care closely scrutinises overall progress of the student and submit a detailed monthly report to the Principal.
