AUS IELTS Preparation Sessions

We are pleased to invite you to a series of virtual IELTS Preparation Sessions offered by the Achievement Academy at American University of Sharjah. These sessions are designed to enhance your skills in Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking, while equipping you with the strategies needed to excel at this important stage of your academic journey. Each session will run from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (GST / UAE Time).

Session 1 – October 5, 2025
Reading 1: Introduction to the IELTS examination and the first seven question types: multiple choice, short answer, True/False/Not Given, Yes/No/Not Given, matching information, and matching headings. Practical tips and strategies will be shared for each type.

Session 2 – October 12, 2025
Reading 2: Exploration of the remaining seven reading question types: matching features, matching sentence endings, sentence completion, summary completion (types 1 and 2), note completion, flowchart completion, and diagram completion. Special focus will be placed on grammar and meaning for completion tasks.

Session 3 – October 19, 2025
Writing 1: Focus on IELTS Writing Task 1 (graphs, charts, tables, or diagrams). Participants will learn about grading criteria and receive practical guidance to maximize their scores.

Session 4 – October 26, 2025
Writing 2: Focus on IELTS Writing Task 2 (opinion essays, including advantage/disadvantage, agree/disagree, problem/solution, explanation, or discussion). The session will provide insight into grading expectations and strategies for success.

Session 5 – November 2, 2025
Listening & Speaking: Overview of the Listening test structure, sections, and key strategies for success (with emphasis on spelling). The session will also cover the three parts of the Speaking test, highlighting fluency, idiomatic usage, and techniques for sustaining speech for two minutes.

Each session will conclude with a Q&A opportunity with Dr. Paul Hudson, Senior Instructor in the Achievement Academy at the American University of Sharjah.
