āYou have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you chooseā, this is something my grade one teacher Shalini maāam used to always say, and itās still stuck with me. Trying to sum up my whole experience in school in simple words, is impossible. With countless unique memories that one cannot be more thankful for and having the best experiences the last 14 years starting from KG1 B to ending with 12 B was the best ride of my life. school was a place I knew that would challenge me and help me become the best version of myself and Iām glad to say it worked out well.
Iāve met some of my lifelong friends and teachers whoāve changed my life while facilitating an environment for me to grow in. During the last 14 years, when I had faced any problem, one place I knew that I could always go to feel better is anywhere in school as the surrounding always made me feel happy and secure.
Even during the pandemic last year, it was hard for everyone around the world and people found different ways to cope but due to how interactive school made it for us, I never felt alone but always felt very involved and Iām always thankful to the school as it couldāve been a dark time.
Another important experience from school was how diverse the extracurriculars were. Being part of the school team for basketball helped me gain a second family while having the most fun 4 years. The team gave me a place where I can be myself while improving myself and some of the most unforgettable moments Iāve had.
Weāve always heard the saying that school is home away from home, but for me, school was my home. If someone asks me about my childhood all the memories would just include school. It gave me eternal happiness and uncountable memories. There may have been ups and downs but in the end, it was a happy 14-year journey.
Having our last year online was not the most ideal scenario but Iām glad to see how the school evolved and so have we with it. Without knowing what was in the future, we stood united and came out at the top in the end.
School also helped facilitate a safe environment where I could express my feelings while also not being judged. It helped me find a group of friends where I could be myself without any worries and regrets
My first day in April of 2007 and last day in June 2021 had something common but for different reasons. I remember I was crying at the age of 4 as I was being put in a new environment and all I wanted to do was go home but on the last day I was crying cause the only thing I wanted was to never leave and this is a clear example of the growth Iāve felt in school.
I feel that Iāve had my values and strengths instilled in me from the beginning and have helped me become the best version of myself I could be. I already canāt wait for the 10-year union and meeting all my teachers who shaped my life and my friends who made me who I am. Even though we may be in the next stage of our lives, Iāll never forget what school has done for me and how at the end of the day, it will always be the greatest period of my life.
